Works with my Hard Tap Water
I was using Masterblend 4-18-38 for my leafy greens, 10% to 20% tap water and RO. It produced OK lettuce. The leaves were not very robust. And I was going through a fair amount of RO water. I tried Jack's Tap Water 15-5-20 and wow, it worked with 100% tap water. I filtered for Chlorine. But that's it. My EC is typically 0.8, or PPM on the 500 scale is around 400 to 450. It's fairly hard water. I add about 2 ml of pH Down from Advanced Nutrients (55% Phosphate) to 10 L of filtered tap water, and then Jack's to get an EC of 1.5. The initial pH is a bit on the low side at around 5.5 but it slowly rises and stabilises at 6.0 after about a day or two. I grow heads of Romaine and Buttercrunch lettuce that's robust, no tip burn, excellent tasting leaves. I save on RO. I get good quality lettuce. I've been using this since June 2023. I also have used this to grow tomatoes, cucumber and chili peppers. Same EC at 1.5. I grow using the Kratky method of hydroponics, so the nutrient mix is critical to good plant growth. I've had excellent results using Jack's Tap.
